Run-down street

Started this a few weeks back and need to start working on it again. Well it's just a pretty derelict street and a work in progress as the buildings do both need to be finished.

Got inspired by Tom aka Eastawat's great street scene for the largescale billboard advert.

I'll post more as it develops.

Doesn't seem so run down but is that unfinished paving or a pool of water , like the storybook panel billboard

Looks good! Looking forward to seeing some undesirable minifigs populating the area.

Funny this should come up, I was actually just thinking over the weekend that I've never seen puddles in a lego scene... a few transparent tiles on that missing section of pavement and you might have a blocked drain!

Brief update.

Puddle getting permanent recognition status due to popular demand.

I put in a run of the mill road, changed the shop sign colours to lime and the shop's ground floor from LBG to white so it contrasts with the second floor's grey. Think this looks more realistic.

'Planted' a bending scrawny tree / tall bush in the side passage and did some other small tweaks.

I'm hoping to find the small window panes in reddish brown so I can make some look boarded up. Not sure they exist, will need to check on Bricklink sometime.

A little update

The road paving and backyards are now mostly done.

I decided to open the closed shop and make it a small Chinese takeaway. Sadly it didn't take long before some pesky concert promoters plastered their billboards over its nice white side wall.

Well I finished it now.  Was too lazy to do the interiors with the exception of the Chinese restaurant downstairs but the buildings are modular so I can always go back and fit them out if their inhabitants complain.
